Project #10

Things are going well with this project. I put a notice into everyones pigeon-holes at work today asking if they had any disused stereo equipment I could use and suggested I could easily pop by and collect any stuff they might have. This way I get to find out a bit about where the gear is coming from. Not sure how they will respond.
I have started bidding again on trademe have a couple of decks that are good hope I can secure them without spending too much. They dont finish at auction till next week.
I dont mind using amps and disk players as well as tape decks to add to the work and have been thinking about lighting and backdrops today. I was walking along Stanley Road back to work and thinking about lights and stage lights in particular.
I am going to continue to use the rubber as a back drop and have been cunjuring up new ways to handle it.

Project #10

Work #10 comprising of twelve record decks, each deck will have an album from one particular genre they decks will be wired up to power supply amps and any other electrical accessory required to make them work, these will be integral to the work. They albums will then all be played simultaneously for the duration of the piece. The resulting cocophony will be made into a film which will be shown in the exhibition in July.

Purchased record deck one from trademe won the bid at $33 reference 214435419 24 Andrews St. Gisborne.

Purchased record deck two from a second hand store in town for $20. The man there is going to put decks aside for me and wants me to pop in from time to time to see how he is going. They deal with deceased estates and usually throw record decks away cause nobody wants them. I like this aspect of collecting them as they have been in other peoples houses and each deck has its own history. He is an easy going sort of guy and has come to our house over the years to collect things we have wanted to sell. Last time I went into the store I was trying to sell our old t.v. so he remembered me.

Went to Andrew St. to pick up deck I purchased yesterday. I have a problem with these decks as they dont have the correct plugs on them so I will have to find out if i can use an adapter on them to get them going. They might have to be plugged into an amp to work. Thats ok but I will need to find the amps. The guy in the store might put them aside for me.
I am bidding on a couple of decks again on trademe and have been corresponding with the sellers. One seller is selling on behalf of his mother and is offering a box of LP's. The deck looks good and plugs in independently the arm activates the drive so the arm could be suspended over a painted disk which I like.
